GONG WAH was founded in Cologne in 2017 by guitarist Thorsten Dohle and singer Inga Nelke. At first just a duo with a drum machine. Shortly afterwards Felix Will joined in. In a dark cave-esque rehearsal space the first demos and most importantly a sound were created. Their mixture between distorted guitars, cold new wave and catchy songwriting is called FUZZWAVE. As a three piece accompanied by a tape deck with pre-recorded bass and drums they played first small guerilla gigs. In 2018 bass player Giso Simon and drummer Nima Davari joined the line up. GONG WAH became a five piece.

With this line up the self-titled debut (2020) and the follow up A SECOND (2022) were recorded and released via TONZONEN RECORDS. Both records were received well by the international press with the single THIS LIFE even making it to number 14 on the german alternative charts. Various concerts and festival appearances followed. At the end of 2023 Giso Simon and Nima Davari amicably left the band.

Reduced to the core line up GONG WAH recorded their third album in 2024. Again, like the predecessors, produced in their own studio THE HEALING VOLUME will be released by TONZONEN on April 11th 2025. In the autumn of 2024 Ingo Ruttke -bass- and Wolly Düse -drums- joined the Band. Not only being excellent musicians but also old friends. With a new record and a new line up GONG WAH is gearing up to hit the stage again in 2025.
